ENGLISH 11In English 11, we will examine the struggles, successes, and failures
by individuals in conflict with their societies across various literary works. We will study both traditional “Canonical “ or authoritative literature and works by minority and contemporary writers to give you diverse and often contradictory perspectives in order to help you develop your own unique, comprehensive understanding of these enduring themes of the human condition. This term’s theme is “What Does It Mean to Be Human?” This year we will follow Wendell Berry’s philosophy: “The mind that is not baffled is not employed.” |
